Happy Koningsdag!!!

In celebration of King William-Alexander’s birthday, King of The Netherlands, the country will enjoy a day of celebrating on April 26^th, 2014. This will be our first King’s Day or Koningsdag after his inauguration last year. His birthday is actually on the 27^th but that falls this year on a Sunday, so the country’s day of jubilee will take place the day before.

People throughout the country will be dressed in orange, the color of the royal family and some places can get a tad crazy.

But here at our little corner of The Netherlands our Happy Hippos have come out to celebrate.

Neighbors and people passing by on bike and by car are honking and waving a hearty hello and wishes for a Happy Koningsdag.

So from our home to yours... Happy Koningsdag!

In celebration of Easter, I decided it was time to introduce you all to two of my new loves.

Some people have majestic lions that guard their home. Warding off evil and inviting only the friendly to enter.

Some people have regal dogs standing at attention ready to alert their master of any trespassers.

But I am proud to say that our new home is lovingly looked after by a pair of whimsical hippos!

They will be appearing throughout the year in fun attire. I hope you and my neighbors enjoy. We did already get a couple of honks from people passing by.
